Godzilla vs Kong is a fantasy action-adventure film directed by Adam Wingard. The film is a sequel to Kong: Skull Island (2017) and Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019). It is the fourth film in Legendary’s Monsterverse and 36th film in the Godzilla franchise. The film’s scheduled release was in 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the film has released internationally on March 24, 2021.
The film revolves around two ancient giant monsters Godzilla and Kong, who appeared in their respective prequel films and helped humans to fight other monsters. This film starts with Godzilla taking the negative role for unknown reasons and destroying a city. The film also takes ahead the story of ‘Monarch’, the crypto-zoological agency, which is aware of these two alpha monsters, and to avoid their clash they’re keeping Kong in an isolated facility. Now, to stop the out-of-control and god-like Godzilla ‘Monarch’ and ‘Apex cybernetics’ tries to get help from Kong.
The Monsterverse films are getting better and better with their latest installments. The film has a really crisp plot which keeps the audience thrilled from the start to the end. Like its prequel, the film gives more screentime to the monsters and focuses on their action sequences. The film has been shot very beautifully, I just wanted some scenes to stay still so that I can watch those visuals a moment longer. Each scene has been crafted with utter brilliance with the use of advanced filmmaking. The film heavily depends on computer-generated imagery, and it is flawless. And, even after that, the makers were able to humanize the story and made the audience feel for the CGI characters. That way, the film has kept the correct balance between the human characters and the monsters.
The visual effects are stunning and top-notch, the action sequences between Godzilla and Kong are just spectacular and epic. The action scenes are so wonderfully choreographed and shot that the audience can clearly see every action going down. There were some flaws concerning how easily some things were happening and some unnecessary characters, maybe because of lazy writing on that part. But, undoubtedly, the film delivers what it has promised, a stunning battle between mythic adversaries – the fearsome Godzilla and the mighty Kong.
Verdict : The film has lived up to its hype, and is totally spectacular and enjoyable. Just go for it!
