Malang is an action crime thriller film directed by Mohit Suri. The film is distributed by the banner Yash Raj Films.
The film sets in Goa and revolves around Advait (Aditya Roy Kapoor), who is on a killing spree of police officers of a special unit. And Agashe (Anil Kapoor) and Michael (Kunal Khemu) are cops who are trying to stop him. The film also stars Disha Patani as Sarah, a free-spirited girl who lives life unshackled and Advait’s love interest. Why Advait is killing police officers? and How Agashe and Michael get involved in this? and What happens to Sarah and Advait? Answers to all these questions form the crux of the story.
Once again, Mohit Suri is back with his favorite romantic crime-thriller genre after Murder 2 (2011) and Ek Villain (2014) – Both of these films also set in Goa. Mohit Suri’s films are known for its grey and dark characters and story. This film also has the element of surprise in it which nicely turns the story. To some extent, the film is predictable but satisfying. The film has some nice action sequences and impacting visual style. The songs and background score of the film is like a cherry on the cake. The performances by all leads except Disha are flawless; Disha has yet to explore her acting skills as compared to other characters.
Verdict : It is a nice film to watch if you like action thrillers with the sprinkle of romance and fine music.
