Dunkirk (2017) – Movie Review

Dunkirk was one of the most awaited movies of the year, and the reason behind it is visionary and very much talented director Christopher Nolan, the name alone is enough. The plot of the movie is very simple, it’s a pure war drama movie. Unlike other movies of the same genre this one does not revolve around any central character(s) but it focuses on the event, i.e., evacuation. The movie has brilliantly been broken into three different timelines (like Memento – 2000) as land, water, and air; and connects all the dots at the end very flawlessly. Every frame of the film has been shot very beautifully in IMAX (almost 80% of the film) that you cannot take your eyes off the screen. Apart from the spectacle, the splendid background score lifts movie up to some other level (Hats off to Hans Zimmer) that you totally get invested in it (Dogfights are just awesome). The only limitation is, as mentioned earlier, the movie is about an event and not the journey of any character. It limits the viewer to connect emotionally to the story. But exactly that’s where the movie is outstanding at the same time.

Verdict : So it’s definitely worth your every penny. Go for it.

Dunkirk is the type of intense that doesn’t let you breathe until the credits roll.
